Unfortunately, even in 2021, it is not possible to use mobile personal documents in the Czech Republic. This is quite common abroad. They use electronic documents, for example in Finland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, or Kosovo. The European Union wants to go in the same direction and mobile documents are on the rise. The state printer of securities on its website presents the eDokladovka application, which allows you to have a citizen’s passport or driver’s license on your phone. The application as such is ready, waiting only for the approval of legislation.

At least the fact that someone created the application is a hope that we could soon look forward to the time when we will have a driver’s license, an ID card or, for example, an insurance card. “Today, you have a lot of worries with a physical citizen if you lose her. You must go to the office, report the loss to the police and apply for a new one. That’s why this app is, ” said Radek Muška, director of STC (State Printing House of Securities). What does the eDokladovka allow you to have on your phone?

• driving license
• passport
• professional driver’s license
• digital tachograph card
• disability card
• residence permit for nationals of foreign countries

In the future, it will be possible to insert other documents that are published into the eDokladovka application entities other than STC. It could be about birth certificate, firearms license, insured person’s license or vehicle registration certificate. Of course, documents can be added and also removed. However, applications (or documents in it) should not replace physical documents, they will be their digital twins. Like Dot and ČTečka will have as well Warehouse two applications. One will be used for those who will check the documents, the other, of course, for all others who will have the documents recorded in it. Additionally, authentication will work as well offline using Bluetooth and QR codes.
