Circulating Name Sri Mulyani Becomes Candidate for Governor of BI


Name of Minister of Finance (Minister of Finance) Sri Mulyani Indrawati reportedly entered as one of the candidates for Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI). It is said that the State Treasurer will replace Perry Warjiyo, whose term ends in May 2023.

“I heard several names that were candidates to become Governor of Bank Indonesia, there was the name Mrs. Sri Mulyani who is currently the Minister of Finance,” said the source. detikcom in the DPR RI, Monday (30/1/2023).

For information, the position of Governor of BI is proposed and appointed by the President with the approval of the DPR RI. Until now, the DPR RI is still waiting for a letter from Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the name proposed to replace Perry Warjiyo.

“In mid-February, the president’s letter should have entered the DPR to carry out the stages and mechanisms in the DPR,” he said.

Rumors also circulated that Perry Warjiyo would be re-elected as Governor of BI for a second term. “There is also Mr. Perry Warjiyo who can still become governor (BI) again for a second term,” he said.

Besides Sri Mulyanialso circulating the names of candidates who will become candidates for Governor of BI, namely Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa who is currently Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), and Destry Damayanti who currently sits in the seat of BI Senior Deputy Governor.

“I heard these names being circulated as candidates for Governor of BI. Everything goes back to the President,” said the source.
