Dacian Cioloș, co-leader of USR, sent a sharp public message after Ludovic Orban’s statements about the National Agency for Infrastructure Development in Health.

“We established unequivocally, today, in the USR PLUS National Bureau, that we support in the Coalition the steps taken by the Minister of Health, Ioana Mihăilă, to set up the agency that will build hospitals in Romania. The National Agency for Health Infrastructure Development is not removed from anyone’s job today to negotiate with anyone, it is a clear point agreed in the governing program with which the Cîțu Government was voted by the Parliament and which the Cîțu Government must put in practice now. We have been analyzing since USR PLUS was in opposition why the Romanian state has not been able to build hospitals for many years, although money has existed and has not been spent.

The conclusion is that the Ministry of Health never had the capacity to make large health infrastructure projects, did not have the capacity to coordinate projects under local authorities (town halls or county councils) and then hospitals were always postponed and unspent money was go back to your budget or lose. This is unacceptable given that we have and will have a lot of money through PNRR for this type of investment. We need to hire professionals who can work on these projects, we need an agency that is not politicized and bureaucratized, but only responds to the need to design and build hospitals expected for 30 years by Romanians. This agency does not mean more bureaucracy, but will bring efficiency and predictability. It takes professionals who have a long term to be able to carry out the plans. Ioana Mihăilă has the full support of USR PLUS, she will also come to the Coalition meeting to answer any questions – as she did publicly – and we want to know today that Prime Minister Cîțu also supports what he has already assumed through the government program. ” wrote Dacian Cioloș, on Facebook.

Ludovic Orban hinted that he and Florin Cîțu have the same opinion on this subject. See more here Earlier, Dan Barna also spoke on the subject, stating that it was the most important point discussed today in the USR meeting.
