‘Peaky Blinders’ Film Starring Cillian Murphy to Hit Netflix Following Theatrical Release
Berlin – Fans of the acclaimed crime drama Peaky Blinders will soon be able to continue the saga on the big screen and then at home: a new film featuring Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby will arrive in cinemas on October 4th, followed by a streaming release on netflix two weeks later, the streaming service announced.
The film picks up where the six-season BBC series left off, plunging the Shelby family into the turmoil of World War II. “The country is at war,and so are the Peaky Blinders,” explained series creator steven Knight,promising an “explosive chapter” in the gang’s history. Directed by tom Harper, who previously helmed episodes of the television series, the film boasts a stellar cast alongside Murphy, including Barry Keoghan (Saltburn), Rebecca Ferguson (Dune), Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction), and Stephen Graham (Adolescence).
Originally airing on the BBC from 2013 to 2022, Peaky Blinders captivated audiences with its gritty portrayal of a Birmingham street gang in the aftermath of World War I. The series was also broadcast in Germany on Arte under the title Peaky Blinders – Gangs of Birmingham. Netflix has released a first-look image of Murphy as Tommy Shelby, sporting his signature flat cap and a bloodied face while riding a horse, hinting at the intense action to come.
