The Spanish club made Wednesday known that Cillessen had to undergo surgery because of a muscle injury in his right leg. How long the keeper will be out of circulation is not yet entirely clear. According to Spanish media, the recovery period can take three to four months.
Cillessen is the third goalkeeper of the Dutch national team who gets injured in a short time. Jeroen Zoet is struggling with a groin injury and has also been disabled until the end of this year, Justin Bijlow also had to cancel for the Orange due to an injury.
