Chronology of French Teacher Beheading Triggered by Student Lies

Jakarta

Latest facts on cases beheading of a history teacher in France which shows karikatur Nabi Muhammad in his class last year again shocked the public. It is known that the beheading began with the lies of a 14-year-old student for fear of making her father angry because she was suspended.

Then what is the chronology of the beginning of the beheading and the connection with the appointment of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad by a teacher in France? The following is a summary of the chronology as reported by AFP, Wednesday (10/3/2021)

6 October 2020

A student at a school with the initials Z was suspended for two days because he often skipped class. When he wasn’t in class, a history and geography teacher, Samuel Paty discussed the ‘dilemma’ theme in one of its classes.

He asked a question that read “To be or not to be Charlie?” which refers to the hashtag #JeSuisCharlie which was widely used to support the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo after a terrorist attack in January 2015 killed 12 people.

Paty is said to have asked Muslim students in her class, who were thought to be surprised, to close their eyes or stand briefly in the corridor while she showed the caricature to other students.

Two days later, the Z student then admitted to his father that he was suspended by Paty for two days because during the previous class he expressed his disapproval of Fifth who asked Muslim students to leave the classroom before he showed karikatur Nabi Muhammad.

Hearing his daughter’s explanation, the student’s father, Moroccan-born Brahim Chnina (48), shot a video and shared it on Facebook in which he lashed out at Paty and called for the teacher to be fired from his teaching place at the Conflans-Sainte-Honorine Middle School.

One other video posted to social media by Chnina contains Chnina’s anger at accusing Paty of ‘discrimination’.

Not only that, Chnina also complained to school and reported to the police, accusing Paty of being guilty of “spreading pornographic images”, and sparking allegations of Islamophobia in the school. This issue along with the two Chnina videos spread widely, especially on social media, until it reached Abdullah Anzorov (18), a radicalized Chechen immigrant.

About 10 days later, Anzorov, at noon local time, came to Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, paying two teenagers from the school to identify Fifth when he was about to go home

At around 5 p.m. local time, Anzorov followed Paty, who was walking home after school, injuring the victim’s head with a knife and then chop off his head. Anzorov then shouted “Allahu Akbar”, or “Allah is Great”.

The man then uploaded a photo of the victim to his Twitter account, along with the insults to PM Macron and the “infidels” and “dogs” on French.

Court French charged three out of four students for allegedly helping to identify Paty. The three, aged between 13 and 14, were accused of “being involved in the terrorist killings,”.

Another student, the daughter of Brahim Chnina, is launching a vicious online campaign against Paty. He denounced the teacher’s use of cartoons published by the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo.

After being charged, in front of the anti-terrorist judges investigating this case, the student with the initials Z admitted that he had accused Fifth mistakenly and admitted himself to have lied.

It was told by this student that she was not in the classroom at all when Paty showed her students a controversial caricature of the Prophet Muhammad from the French satire newspaper Charlie Hebdo. At that time, this student was being suspended due to truancy several times.

In a report by leading French media, Le Parisien, on Sunday (7/3) said the student lied because he wanted to please his father.

“He didn’t dare admit to his father the real reason he was kicked out (from class) just before the tragedy, which was in fact linked to his bad behavior,” said Le Parisien in his report.

Investigators reportedly described the girl as suffering from an inferiority complex and had great respect for her father.

“If I had not said that to my father, none of this would have happened and would not have spread so quickly,” the student told a local anti-terrorist judge, as reported by another French media, RFI.

In her argument, the schoolgirl’s lawyer, Mbeko Tabula, insisted that the weight of this tragedy should not be directed solely to her 13-year-old client.

“His father’s exaggerated behavior, made and posted a video incriminating the professor caused this spiral event,” he said. “My client lied, but even if it was true, his father’s reaction was still disproportionate,” he added.

Regarding this case, the student was charged with slander and her father was accused of being involved in the murder of terrorists. To the local police, Chnina reportedly called himself an ‘idiot, stupid’.

“I never thought my message would be seen by terrorists. I don’t want to hurt anyone with that message. It’s hard to imagine how we got here, that we lost a history professor and everyone blames me,” he said.
