Chronology of 3 Residents Killed by Lightning During a Football Match at the Indonesian Independence Day in Lebak

KOMPAS.com – As many as three residents of Girimukti Village, Cilograng District, Lebak Regency, Banten, died struck by lightning while playing football to celebrate Indonesia’s 75th Independence Day.

In addition, dozens of residents suffered serious injuries and were forced to undergo treatment, Monday (17/8/2020), around 16.30 WIB.

According to the Head of Cilograng Police Iptu Asep Dikdik, during the match, it rained. Players and residents also take shelter under the trees around the field.

“The lightning struck the pine, and hit a nearby crowd of people taking shelter,” said Asep, when confirmed by telephone, Monday (17/8/2020).

Taken to the puskesmas

Residents panicked and immediately brought 23 residents who were injured as a result of being struck by lightning.

However, three people, namely Irpan bin Tata (16), Subadri (50) and Ajid (17), their lives could not be saved.

Meanwhile, 20 other people were seriously injured and were undergoing treatment at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Palabuhan Ratu.

Meanwhile, the victims have been handed over to their respective families.
