Christopher Nolan Assumes DGA Presidency as New Officers and Board Take Office
Los Angeles, CA – Christopher Nolan has been elected President of the Directors Guild of America (DGA), succeeding Lesli Linka Glatter, whose term concluded this month. The election results were announced following the Guild’s annual meeting, marking a meaningful transition in leadership for the association representing over 18,000 directors and assistant directors.
The election of Nolan, renowned for directing critically acclaimed and commercially prosperous films such as Oppenheimer, inception, and the Dark Knight trilogy, signals a continued focus on the evolving landscape of filmmaking and the rights of directors. The DGA plays a crucial role in negotiating contracts, advocating for fair labor practices, and fostering a collaborative surroundings within the industry. This leadership change comes at a pivotal moment, as the industry navigates challenges related to streaming, artificial intelligence, and evolving production models.
Alongside Nolan’s election, the DGA also announced its newly elected officers: Joyce Thomas as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, Todd Holland as First Vice-President, Ron Howard as Second Vice-president, Gina Prince-Bythewood as Third vice-President, Seith Mann as Fourth Vice-President, Millicent Shelton as Fifth Vice-President, and Lily Olszewski as Sixth Vice-president.
The Guild’s Board of Directors will consist of Kabir Akhtar, Jon Avnet, Tessa Blake, Valdez Flagg, courtney M. Franklin, Nicole Kassell, Phil Lord, Joseph P. Reidy, Donald L. Sparks, Steven Spielberg, and glenn Weiss.
Serving as Alternate Board Members are Jamie Babbit, Mary Lou Belli, Benny Boom, Nandi Bowe, Hanelle Culpepper, Karen Gaviola, Michael Goi, SJ Main Muñoz, Annetta Marion, Patrick K. McManus, Edward Ornelas, Jason Robert Reitman, patricia Riggen, Eric Dean Seaton, alex Stapleton, Eric Stoltz, and J. Rupert Thompson.
Rounding out the leadership structure, the Associate Board Members include Julie Gelfand, Louis J. Guerra, Keven Koster, Glenna Meeks, and Shawn Pipkin-West. Joe MJ Moore, Gary R. Natoli, Chemen A. Ochoa, Lyn Pinezich, Canella williams-Larrabee, and Erika Wortham will serve as Second Alternate Board Members.
