Coronavirus in Poland. The epidemiological situation in our country and in the world is still uncertain. Every day there are new records of people who tested positive for COVID 19. Much has changed in everyday life. There are also changes to the upcoming pastoral visit to our homes, commonly known as Christmas carols. Guidelines from one of the dioceses have appeared.
Everything indicates that the epidemic situation in our country will not change in the coming months. Many people are already wondering what about the visits of priests in our homes after Christmas.

“We limit pastoral visits only to the blessing of new houses and apartments at the invitation of the hosts” – explained Fr. Wojtal.

The Curia’s statement also included an appeal to priests, Fr. “celebration of the Eucharist during Christmas for the parishioners from particular streets and Christmas carols (evenings), taking into account the relevant sanitary regulations”.

A carol in Poland is a popular term for a pastoral visit of a parish priest or a person representing him (parish vicar or deacon) in the homes of parishioners. A pastoral visit is one of the pastoral forms used in many Christian Churches.

How is the carol going
- A table is being prepared with a cross and candles, and in some regions of Poland also with holy water and a sprinkler.
- Parishioners can make a voluntary donation to the parish community on the occasion of Christmas carols.
- Sometimes a snack or a joint meal is practiced.
