Chris Evans hated the Captain America costume

Captain America is a name that all MCU fans know. And this character played by Chris Evans is one of the public’s favorite Avengers. After several years of good and loyal service, the super soldier bowed out in Avengers: Endgame. Since then, the role of Captain America has been held by Anthony Mackie, the interpreter of Sam Wilson.

Captain America is known to have donned many costumes over the years. Some of them were faithful to the versions presented in the comics, others were not. But either way, they were always designed so that Captain America would remain recognizable.

If these costumes pleased the public, they did not however succeed in convincing Chris Evans.

The pyres costume?

Chris Evans recently spoke with LADbible TV. During this interview, he returned to his experience as Captain America. The actor then confided that he hated his superhero costume.

According to him, Captain America’s costume was the worst compared to those of the other Avengers.

“It’s his costume, and it suits him, but compared to all the Avengers, let’s be honest. It’s not the best. They are all better than mine. Whether it’s Scarlett Johansson’s, Chris Hemsworth’s or Tom Holland’s…”

A role he almost refused

As a reminder, Chris Evans almost refused the role of Captain America. We learned this in the book Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Indeed, the actor had said that he needed time to think about Marvel’s proposal.

“It’s a big commitment to make Marvel movies. At first, I was offered 9 films, then it went to 6. But 6 can last a very long time. I worried that it would be a life-changing experience, that the commitment would be greater than I can bear. But it didn’t happen. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made. »

Fortunately for MCU fans, Marvel did everything to convince Chris Evans.
