JAKARTA How much cholesterol Indonesians have different ranges. This differs based on a person’s age. Meanwhile, cholesterol in the blood is very important to take care of.

If it’s not controlled properly, then high cholesterol can cause various health problems . As well as heart disease and stroke which leads to death.

Reporting from Medical News Today, Tuesday (11/30/2021), the following are the cholesterol levels of Indonesians.

1. Adults

Cholesterol levels in adults, should be less than 200 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL). This figure is considered a benchmark for normal cholesterol limits for adults.

A number between 200 and 239 mg/dL is already within the high limit, while a reading of 240 mg/dL and above is considered very high. On the other hand, Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol or bad cholesterol should be less than 100 mg/dL.

Levels of 100 to 129 mg/dL can be used as a benchmark for normal limits for people who do not have health problems. But the figures may be worrying for people who have heart disease or risk factors for heart disease.

A reading of 130 to 159 mg/dL is a high threshold, while 160 to 189 mg/dL is a high. 190 mg/dL or higher is considered very high.

Cholesterol High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol should be kept higher. A reading of less than 40 mg/dL is considered a major risk factor for heart disease. A reading of 41 mg/dL to 59 mg/dL is considered a low limit. A normal HDL number is 60 mg/dL or higher.
