At the end of the line, a man introduces himself as the assistant to Professor Jérôme Salomon, director general of public health and figure in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic. His voice imbued with gravity, he offers his interlocutors to buy protective masks and hydroalcoholic gel, a rare commodity in pharmacies in the region. “He even told us that the state would take over 20% of the orders,” says Jocelyne Wittevrongel, secretary general of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Unions of France. After each phone call, an email with the logo of the Directorate General of Health (DGS) follows, indicating the address of the supplier to contact.
