A Chinese man was forced to remove half of his liver after he was filled with “countless worms” because of his passion for eating undercooked fish.
A 55-year-old citizen from Hangzhou, nicknamed “tea” (Xie), suffered anorexia, fatigue and mild abdominal pain after visiting his family in Sichuan in February, according to a press release issued by the “Hangzhou First Peoples Hospital” in eastern China. . However, he was not subjected to medical treatment at the time because he believed his symptoms were caused by depression, according to the website “Russia Today”.
Shay went to the hospital four months later, after suffering from chills and high fever for three days. Doctors were amazed when they discovered that the patient’s liver contained a huge mass of pus-filled 19 cm long and 18 cm wide, according to the report.
Surgeons initially tried to reduce the incursion protrusion such as the cyst, by drying the mass of fluid, but they quickly realized that the infection was very severe, and they decided to cut off half of the liver.
A subsequent examination revealed that the mass contained countless eggs laid by the Chinese testicle branch or the Chinese liver coil, a parasite found in raw seafood.
Doctors concluded that “tea” had been infected with the parasite after eating undercooked fish during its trip to Sichuan.
The Chinese man admitted intentionally eating rare seafood because he believed this made the taste of meat better.
Fortunately, thanks to the surgery, “tea” was in good condition, and the Hangzhou Hospital stated that the man had fully recovered after the operation.
