TAIPEI, KOMPAS.com – Taiwan on Monday (21/9/2020) said they alerted the army and deployed an anti-missile system after jet combat China entered their defense zone for the fourth time in five days.
A total of 2 Chinese Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft entered Taiwan’s southwestern air defense identification (ADIZ) zone, the Ministry of Defense was quoted as saying AFP.
Last week Chinese soldiers and bombers violated the same zone 3 times, 2 of them when a top US diplomat visited Taiwan and angered Beijing.

Washington has sent 2 envoys to Taipei in recent months, angering Beijing over seeing the self-governing island still a part of it.
China once insisted on taking over Taiwan again, with violence if necessary.
The Taipei Ministry of Defense then said that Taiwan was upholding its “right of self-defense and counterattack” amid “frequent harassment and threats”.

“Our main principle is not to provoke, not to escalate conflict, instigate incidents or cause misfire,” Defense Minister Yen De-fa told reporters.
“But we are not afraid of war and we must defend our necessary rights to defend ourselves and strike back,” he continued AFP.
Beijing has continued to increase diplomatic, economic and military pressure on Taiwan since President Tsai Ing-wen was elected in 2016.

The 64-year-old woman rejects the notion that Taiwan is part of “one China”.
Meanwhile, Washington’s friendship with Taiwan under the command of President Donald Trump has sparked another conflict between the US and China.
Previously, the two superpowers had clashed in the fields of trade, security, the corona virus pandemic, and recently technology.
