China Southern and Air Guilin: An A320 in 737 Max fur

A Boeing 737 Max currently seems to be flying happily back and forth in China. How it came about.

For the past 15 months, no Boeing 737 Max has been allowed to take off with passengers anywhere in the world. It would be great news if a plane of the type suddenly appeared somewhere in the sky. But that is exactly what happened in China.

The Flightradar 24 portal shows how the Boeing 737 Max from China Southern Airlines with the registration B-1205 cheerfully carries out domestic flights in the People’s Republic. On closer inspection, however, the whole thing is not a big sensation. In fact, it is an Airbus A320 – in the Boeing 737 Max fur.

Piper supposedly flew from Paris to Philadelphia

Also, the plane that flies back and forth in China is not one of China Southern, but one of Air Guilin. The transponder of the Boeing 737 Max was apparently installed in the Airbus A320 of the other airline without making corresponding updates afterwards. That was what the portal discovered Key.aero

“Human programming errors or errors in the transponder itself can lead to the transponder sending an incorrect value,” a Flightradar spokesman told the portal. That rarely happens, but it does happen.

Piper supposedly flew from Paris to Philadelphia

Attention was drawn to the supposed flight of a Piper PA-28 light aircraft about two years ago, which crossed the Atlantic on the way from Paris to Philadelphia. In fact, it was an American Airlines Airbus A330 with an incorrect code entered in its transponder.
