China plans to launch more than 200 spacecraft in 2023

BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) — A report released by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation last Wednesday showed that the company plans to launch more than 200 spacecraft with more than 60 space missions in 2023.

The report revealed plans for the country’s space science and technology activities in 2023, saying that the Tianzhou-6 cargo spacecraft and the Shenzhou-16 and Shenzhou-17 space missions will be launched this year to improve China’s ability to enter, use and explore space.

The report indicated that the BeiDou-3 satellite navigation system will see the launch of three spare satellites, and the construction of a new generation of commercial remote sensing satellite system will be accelerated this year.

The aforementioned company also pledged to publish information on surplus missile payload capabilities and provide launch opportunities for commercial users.

In 2023, the company will comprehensively push forward the fourth stage of lunar exploration and planetary exploration, and develop the Chang’e-7 lunar probe, the Mars probe Tianwen-2, as well as the fixed-orbit microwave detection satellite.

The report said that the “Long March-6C” carrier rocket will make its first flight in 2023, while the launch of the “Long March” carrier rocket is expected to exceed 500 launches in total.
