China imposes sanctions on Lithuania’s deputy minister after visiting Taiwan | Reuters


China’s foreign ministry said on Thursday it had imposed sanctions on Lithuania’s Vice Minister of Transport and Communications Baisiukeviciute following a visit to Taiwan. Communication with the Ministry of Transport and Communications will also be suspended. (Reuters/Kim Kyung-Hoon, 2022)

[北京 12日 ロイター] – China’s foreign ministry said on Thursday it had introduced sanctions following a visit to Taiwan by Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Baisiukeviciute. Communication with the Ministry of Transport and Communications will also be suspended.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications declined to comment, saying it had not received official information.

Baisiukebichiute posted on Twitter on the 12th that he visited Taiwan for five days. He said he visited two cities and three port facilities and attended 14 meetings. He came just days after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.
