It appears the plane struck a high-voltage wire and crashed to the ground, after turning into a fireball in Turkey. Moments before the plane crash, beautician Porcu Sağlam “Baye” shared the last moments of his life online.
Porcu and pilot Hakan Koksal, 54, took off from Pamukova in Sakarya province, where footage shows the plane walking the runway moments before takeoff.
But after a while, when the plane was flying at an altitude of about 4,000 feet, it suddenly lost contact. Soon, the charred wreckage of the plane was found in a vacant lot in Osmangazi, Bursa Province.
Workers at a nearby natural gas plant reported an object that fell from the sky to authorities. Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene, where they found the bodies of Burcu and Hakan, who was the president of a flying club.
One of them is believed to have died when the plane caught fire after its wing struck the high-voltage power line of the Ovacá natural gas cycle plant.
Bursa Mayor Alinur Aktas said he believed the other fell from the plane and died.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the plane’s low-level flight, which caused it to collide with a 380,000-volt power line.
Local media reported that Porco told his parents that morning that he was leaving home to get a job. They didn’t know she boarded the plane until authorities notified them of her death in a phone call.
