the chilean band Raconto released his second EP entitled “We are in 1984”material that contains five songs in which the underground rock group from Santiago experiments with new sounds and possibilities, taking a step beyond their work released in 2019.
“Pasado duboso”, “Sonríe”, “Ni más ni menos”, “Libertad” and “Futuro incierto” are the five songs that give life to Raconto’s new EP.
The first is an instrumental theme that supports the following tracks as foundations. For its part, “Sonríe” is a song that must be heard from start to finish due to its broad spectrum, with changes in rhythm and power, warm choirs, cutting riffs and a showy guitar solo.
“Ni más ni menos” is the single from Raconto’s recent work, with a video clip already edited and available on the band’s official channels. “Libertad” is a melodic calm of consolation that gives way to the storm and ends with “Futuro incerto”, where the musicians close the delivery taking their experimental proposal to the maximum.
“Conceptually, the work points to an analogy between the famous book by George Orwell, 1984, and the national reality of the last 3 years, since the social outbreak,” says the national band.
They add that musically, the idea of the album seeks to “show a different face of its sound” compared to previous works: “In a parenthesis” (2019 EP) and the singles “Manifiesto” (Víctor Jara) and “Nadie is eternal in the world” (acoustic).
“We are in 1984” was previewed through singles on the official Raconto channel on Spotify and presentations at René’s Bar, Confluenza Fest and SCD Bellavista room during the first half of the year. Its realization had the collaborations of Poncho del Diablo, Motordo and the visual artist Matías Ríos.
Raconto is made up of Alonso Verblete (voice and guitar), Juako Varas (guitar and backing vocals), Andrés Gallardo (bass and backing vocals) and Jhonny Pérez (drums). His material is available on the official YouTube accounts, SpotifyTidal y Portaldisc.
