Tragedy at Monumental Stadium: Colo Colo Fan Dies After Fall

Santiago, Chile – A 39-year-old Colo Colo fan tragically died on Sunday after falling from the roof of the Monumental Stadium during the highly anticipated national football classic against Universidad de Chile, authorities have confirmed.
Initial reports indicate the fan was attempting to move between seating areas irregularly when the fall occurred, resulting in multiple fractures. Emergency services rushed the man to Florida Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident unfolded while the match between Colo Colo adn Universidad de Chile was underway. Personnel from the East Prosecutor’s Office and local police immediately arrived at the stadium to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fall and secure the scene.
This heartbreaking event marks the fourth death of a Colo Colo fan this year, casting a somber shadow over Chilean football.
earlier this year,in April,two Colo Colo fans died in a separate incident outside the Monumental Stadium prior to a Copa Libertadores match against Brazilian side Fortaleza. The circumstances surrounding those deaths remain under investigation.
Adding to the grief, the club mourned the loss of María Colo Colo, a 90-year-old iconic fan affectionately known by her nickname, who passed away in mid-April.These successive tragedies led Colo colo to cancel planned celebrations commemorating the club’s centenary.
