One of the last digital works of the Chilean architect and artist Sergio Mora-Díaz, is projected during these days on the giant screens of Times Square in New York. His work “Expanding Bodies” was selected to be part of the exhibition “Alone Together”, organized by ZAZ10TS, art gallery and cultural initiative located in Midtown Manhattan that interacts with the public through emerging art.
The initiative, which started on June 16 and will run until the 30th of this month, displays the creations of 28 artists from different countries of the world, on a rotating basis in the building’s lobby and its Times Square outdoor video billboard, located at the corner of Calle 42 and Seventh Avenue. The works exhibited have been selected considering the perspective of the unique public space in which they are presented, with the desire to relate to the environment and passersby of the Big Apple during the process of reopening the city, after nearly three months of confinement by COVID-19.
Expanding Bodies
“Cuerpos en Expansión” was created by Sergio Mora-Díaz between January and April of this year, when the coronavirus began to spread throughout the world. According to the artist, “the piece explores the movement and geometry of the human body through its representation and abstraction in digital media, to reflect on our relationship with technology and provide insights on the existence, identity and fragility of human condition ”.
