Chile on the screen | Union Event

Echoing the crisis in Chile, Ciné-Doc is organizing in different rooms in French-speaking Switzerland for evening events around the projection from the film The Cordillera of dreams. Crowned with the Best Documentary Award 2019 at Cannes, this film is the work of director Patricio Guzmán. The Andes Cordillera, an essential landmark that constitutes Chile’s identity, is also a wall erected between this territory and the rest of the world. Starting from this mountain range, this unknown land which symbolizes his exile, the author questions the past and the link which unites him to his country while paying tribute to those who stayed and fought against the dictatorship . After Longing for the light (2010) and The mother-of-pearl button (2015), man continues his exploration of the geography and history of his homeland, in a huge and highly personal fresco.

The film, followed by discussions with specialists from this country, is to be seen:

Wednesday January 15 at 6.15 p.m. at the Prado cinema in Bulle, in the presence of Guillermo Valenzuela, director of the Givisiez Day Therapy Center and former street social worker in Chile who, as he says himself, experienced everything that Patricio Guzmán tells in his films.

Thursday January 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Urba cinema in Orbe, in the presence of Bastien Genoux, author of the film Me duele memoria, which gives voice to exiles who lived in Allende Chile before leaving the country after the coup.

Sunday January 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the La Bobine cinema, at Le Sentier, in the presence of Patricia Tondreau, Chilean musician, who will give a concert with Marine Meylan after the screening.
