Children are at high risk of contracting various diseases other than Covid-19, if they are not immunized. Secretary of the Indonesian Pediatrician Association’s Immunization Task Force Prof. dr. Soedjatmiko, Sp.A (K) explained that children who are not immunized do not have immunity.
“If you meet your friends at school face-to-face, if that friend has bacteria or a virus, it will be easily transmitted to children who are not immunized,” explained Prof. Seodjatmiko recently.
Prof. Soedjatmiko said the virus that spreads very quickly is among them diphtheria , measles , rubella , and polio . So children who are not immunized at school or whose immunizations are incomplete will have a higher risk of contracting them than children who have been immunized.

For children who have been immunized, they must still apply the discipline of health protocols. The reason is, children who have complete immunization can still be infected and infect, but the health impact on them is not severe when compared to children who are not immunized.
“Those who have been immunized can also be infected, but the impact is much less severe,” said Prof. Soedjatmiko.
He appealed to parents, if immunization was not complete or never, it must be completed immediately. Because, immunization is a basic right of children that must be fulfilled.
Plt. Director of Health Surveillance and Quarantine, Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) dr. Prima Yosephin stated that the Ministry of Health’s efforts to increase immunization coverage in the future pandemic Covid-19 by preparing technical guidelines to strengthen immunization officers in the field.

“To increase public awareness, we have launched several materials for parents about immunization,” said Prima.
