Children are the weakest

The Lauterbach-Vogelsberg Lions Club supports the Grebenhain Children’s Aid, because the need for help is constantly increasing.

LAUTERBACH – So that Grebenhainer Children’s Aid can continue to support needy children in the Grebenhain community in the future, it is financially supported by the Lauterbach-Vogelsberg Lions Club.

The aim of the non-profit association is that every child in the large community of Grebenhain can participate in social life. Specifically, contributions for clothing, therapies, participation in class trips and membership fees for sports clubs are covered. The promotion of gifted children or the support of children with learning difficulties through tutoring as well as the assumption of contributions for day care centers and school care are paid if necessary.

The support provided by the association is confidential, so that the anonymity of those in need is always guaranteed. Thanks to good networking with the local schools and public institutions as well as publications in the Grebenhainer Gemeindeblatt, the monthly consultation hour is always fully booked. “For more than eleven years, our association has been working on a voluntary basis and completely free of charge to provide direct support to children in need and their families,” emphasizes Doris Frank, chairwoman of Grebenhainer Kinderhilfe, when handing over the donation. “In our structurally weak region, the financial situation of many families has worsened as a result of short-time work and job losses. Most of the victims are the children.”

“At the moment the gap between income and expenditure at Grebenhainer Kinderhilfe is noticeably widening,” said deputy chairwoman Janett Gläß. “On the one hand, events for the acquisition of donations cannot be held due to the pandemic, on the other hand, the pandemic is also a trigger for an increased need for support.”

The support of the Lions Club Lauterbach-Vogelsberg in the amount of 2,500 euros therefore secures the valuable work of Grebenhainer Kinderhilfe. “As a service club, it is important to us to provide direct and immediate help on site,” said Lions President Heinz Günter Stelzer when handing over the donation. “Supporting children as the weakest members of our society is a matter close to our hearts in the Lions Club,” adds his colleague on the board, Alexander Rivinius.
