According to the indictment, the 25-year-old also pressed a boy’s chest four times in a facility in Kempen in 2018. “This caused shortness of breath to the point of respiratory arrest, lifelessness and cramps in the boy,” the court wrote on Wednesday. In 2019, in a daycare center in Tönisvorst, she said she had “squeezed the chest of a girl with a congenital heart defect until it turned blue and passed out”.

Doctor got the case rolling

In April 2020 there was a case with little Greta in the day care center in Viersen. “During the afternoon nap, as in the previous cases, the accused squeezed the girl’s chest until she stopped breathing,” the court reported. The three-year-old girl was reanimated by rescue workers, but died two weeks later. The attending physician suspected and found traces that indicated violence. That’s how the case started.

The competent chamber at the Mönchengladbach Regional Court must now decide whether to allow the indictment. The public prosecutor accuses the 25-year-old of murder and nine times mistreatment of wards. The woman has been in custody since the end of May.
