In the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht, a child was rescued from the canal on Thursday afternoon. The boy, about ten years old, was taken to hospital in a critical condition. In the province of Hainaut, a 15-year-old boy died after jumping into the canal.

The fire brigade was informed on Thursday afternoon at around 4 pm that a boy of about ten years old had ended up in the canal in Anderlecht, near the Vaartdijk.
