Crimo is a rapper, and his videos dramatize school shootings and show him shooting people online. Crimo, 22, had been unemployed for two years. He lived with his uncle and father in an inherited house in the area. He is a supporter of former President Donald Trump and a follower of the MAGA movement.

Many Bulgarians live in the suburb “Highland Park”, which is 40 km from Chicago. One of them is Vladimir, who knows the young suspect and his family.

“We have been neighbors for 9 years. It’s terrible. He was a normal teenager, he was never seen to be violent,” said Vladimir Trankolov.

Robert Crimmo opened fire during yesterday’s 4th of July parade. Witnesses say they heard between 30 and 50 shots.

“The start of the parade was past and then the more open platforms were coming. Then we all heard rumblings. And I think everybody just thought that one of the inflatables in the parade had burst,” Larry Blum said.

“Everyone thought it was fireworks and I thought something was wrong. I grabbed my father and we started running,” says Zoe Pavelchak.

According to authorities, the attacker fired from the roof of a high-rise building.

“The weapon was located on the roof of a nearby business building that we identified,” said Chris O’Neill, Highland Park Police Department.

According to police, the shooter climbed an unguarded ladder and may have acted alone. He fired aimlessly at the crowd with a rifle. Parents and grandfather were killed in front of their children.

“On this day we came together to celebrate, but instead we mourn the victims. A tragic loss of life,” said Nancy Rothering, Mayor of Highland Park.

The suspect is in custody, and experts will assess his mental state.
