Top chess player Astrid Barbier from Temse has researched the benefits of chess herself during her studies. She thinks it’s a good thing that more people play chess. The game can have a major impact on the lives of people with disorders such as dyslexia, ADHD or autism spectrum.
“Chess helps to build and increase self-confidence and self-confidence. This is very important for people with certain disorders. They are sometimes bullied, but they experience that less in the chess world. There is more acceptance and there are less prejudices, ”Astrid Barbier told Radio 2 East Flanders.
