A few hours before her gesture, Cheslie Kryst posted a photo of herself to her 200,000 followers on Instagram with this caption: “May this day bring you rest and peace“. According to American media, she left a letter indicating that she bequeathed her property to her mother. “Her fabulous light, beauty and strength inspired others around the world“, expressed the family in a press release. “She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shone“, is it added.

Born on April 28, 1991 in Michigan to a Polish father and an African-American mother, Cheslie Kryst grew up alongside her five brothers and sister between North Carolina and South Carolina. After studying law, she became a civil lawyer and in 2016 decided to participate in Miss North Carolina, a contest she won after three entries, two years later. This title allows her to represent her state at Miss USA, which she won on May 2, 2019 at the age of 28, thus becoming the elected beauty queen of the oldest competition.

Freshly crowned, she leaves her North Carolina and puts her career as a lawyer on hold to live in New York. She takes advantage of her status to defend the reform of American social and criminal justice. Representing the United States at Miss Universe in December 2019, she finished in the Top 10. After her reign, she became a journalist for the people channel Extra. Last November, for example, she stood on the red carpet of the film premiere House of Gucci in New York to collect the impressions of the star Lady Gaga.
