Cheryl Anne Kuly
After a brief illness, on February 17, 2023 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Cheryl Kuly, aged 74 years of Lockport, MB passed away.
Cheryl will be greatly missed by Brian, her loving husband of 53 years, children, Krista Kuly (Michael Donohoe) and Kelly-Ann Morrison, grandchildren Rachel and Kyle Morrison. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Janet Tomczak, brother-in-law Rick Allan and nieces and nephews. Cheryl was predeceased by her parents Jim and Ida Brier, her sister Diana Allan, her brother-in-law Lawrence Tomczak and her in-laws John and Rose Kuly.
Cheryl was born October 31, 1948 in Winnipeg. She married Brian on November 8, 1969 in Winnipeg and began their married life in Winnipeg. They bought their first house in Selkirk. They later built a house in St. Andrews on the Red River where they initially raised their children; returning to Selkirk in 1978. They moved in 1988 to Lockport where they built another home. They then sold their Lockport home and bought Idle Wheels campground near Gimli where they also lived. Next they sold the campground and bought a home on the Sandy Hook golf course. They then bought a home and returned to Lockport.
Cheryl worked for the Legislature as a clerk typist for the premier, where she worked until she had children. She returned to work as a typist for a court reporter in Selkirk. She later worked as a secretary at Lord Selkirk Comprehensive High School.
Cheryl and Brian spent many winters enjoying their place in Yuma, Arizona. She loved dancing, music, and crafts.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Cheryl’s memory can be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Association.
Based on her wishes a memorial service will not be held. As she wished – her ashes will be spread in her favorite warm place – Yuma, Arizona.
