We love it. He dances like a feline and pursues his artistic career like a ferret: flamenco here, Irish folk there, hip-hop or pop music (he started dancing to music videos). The great dancer and choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui likes nothing more than testing his own limits. After creating an anthology production of Pelléas and Mélisande, at the Geneva Opera, he is preparing this time to take the lead of the ballet of the Grand Théâtre of the Swiss city. And it is with 22 dancers from the august institution with an international reputation that he comes to the Maison de la danse to pay homage to the minimalist music ofArvö Part in a double program with his accomplice Andonis Foniadakis. From the great choreographic spectacle to inhabit the space of the most tenuous and obsessive contemporary classical music, this is the new experimentation of this choreographer who is never where one expects him in this Minimal-Maximal. Discovery of the month.
Minimal-Maximal through Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (to the music ofArvo Pärt) and Andonis Foniadakis (to the music of Philip Glass). From Wednesday 26 to Sunday 30 January at 8:30 p.m. (Wed 8 p.m., Sun 3 p.m.) at the dance house, Lyon 8th. From 23 to 45 €.
