That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims the Blues are considering signing him in the summer transfer window.
Thomas Tuchel has admired the central defender of Sevilla FC for two years and lobbied to hire him last summer, but Sevilla FC refused. The Andalusian club are demanding 80 million euros for the Frenchman.
Not to miss
Chelsea will lose Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen – the first to Real Madrid and the second to FC Barcelona – at the end of the season. They need another defender.
And Kounde is on a list that would have three or four names.
With 28 goals conceded, Sevilla can boast of having the best defense in La Liga, and Kounde is a big part of that. He has developed a relationship with Diego Carlos which is among the best in Europe.
He has been consistently excellent at Sanchez-Pizjuan since arriving from Bordeaux in the summer of 2019. Sevilla are currently third in the league standings but he is not one of the reasons they haven’t been able to fight for the title – their offense is.
Kounde, 23, has made 129 appearances for the Nervionenses since joining the club, contributing eight goals and three assists. He also became a full-fledged French international, with nine caps.
Transfermarkt value him at €60m.
