In Katy Perry’s new music video for the single “Lifetimes”, the superstar splashes around the Spanish island of Espalmador outside of Ibiza, Spain.
This causes the Ministry of the Environment in the Balearic Islands to respond, and it is not the 39-year-old’s dance steps that they are moving against.
In one press release the ministry reports that the production company behind the music video had not received permission from the authorities to film on the island.
They have therefore opened an investigation to determine whether the recording of the music video caused environmental damage to the protected dunes, they write The Country.
The newspaper describes the area as one of the most environmentally valuable in the Balearic Islands.
However, the ministry writes that the activities are not a so-called “crime against the environment” because filming can be approved if you apply for it.
The video is directed by Matias “Stillz” Vasquez, writer The Keeper.
Neither Stillz nor Perry have commented on the matter so far.
