Cheaters in Fall Guys Steal Fun from Others

The hugely popular game Fall Guys, which just released last week, is already the victim of cheaters. Indeed, many have noticed some shady behavior from other competitors.

Fall Guys is a Wipeout-style obstacle course game that players must go through as quickly as possible to advance to the next round. The obstacle courses are filled with almost 60 players in a row at the start and the goal is to get to the finish line first, or at least, early enough to qualify for the next round of the race. It is therefore a physics game full of obstacles that it is fun to try to cross. The game developed by Mediatonic and published by Devolver Digital has been very popular and loved by gamers since its release on all platforms on August 4th.

The real problem would come with the PC version of the game where hacks are easier to do. With over two million players on Steam alone, it’s safe to say that the PC version of the game is a hit for the studio. However, it would allow dishonest players to cheat through hacks to, for example, increase their speed in the game or simply steal. It was thanks to clips posted on social media that the problem became known to the rest of the community.

See here, for example, the clip posted on YouTube by Streamer Lia Rein:

We can clearly see here a player moving much faster than the other players who slow down at the slightest obstacles.

Here we can see in a clip posted on YouTube by user Julien D the same kind of hack used by another player with the added bonus of a funny montage:

In this clip, it’s the hack to fly through the course that is shown by Twitter user SkyNexus:

On Twitter, the Mediatonic studio let its gaming community know that it has been alerted to the cheating issue and is working to fix it. It’s hard to say if they’ll be successful in ensuring cheating-free gaming for their community, especially on PC, but at least it’s reassuring to know the studio is working on the issue. The studio also invites anyone who witnesses cheating to report guilty players to ban as many cheaters as possible now.
