ChatGPT: tool controlled by artificial intelligence generates controversy when creating texts, poems and even song lyrics

Ever heard of ChatGPT? This new kind of artificial intelligence is generating controversy because it doesn’t just cut and paste from the internet. She creates texts, essays, poems and even song lyrics. Despite being created in the United States, the tool works in Portuguese as well.

ChatGPT is what technicians call a “chatbot”, that is, a virtual robot that interacts with human beings. Robots like this have been around for a long time, but it’s never been as easy to use as it is now – and, moreover, it’s free.

“ChatGPT, in 5 days, reached 1 million users. To give you an idea, Facebook took ten months to hit 1 million”, says the master in artificial intelligence and writer Guy Perelmuter.

This super-advanced artificial intelligence generates content. Just know how to ask.

“It’s a text box, where you write without having to program, without having to be a technician. You write a question, make a request, make a suggestion, and you get a cohesive answer, never perfect or rarely perfect, but cohesive. CHATgpt, it is important to say, is not 100% reliable. There are countless examples of wrong things”, says Guy Perelmuter.

In 2022, using hundreds of super-powered computers, the ChatGPT system spent months and months pulling billions of pieces of information from across the internet, as engineer and writer Guy Perelmuter explains.

“He took content from the internet, from Wikipedia, from a series of books that were available online, from Twitter, from Reddit, from a bunch of vectors of information and started to learn how people communicate, how sentences are put together. If you ask ChatGPT to write an essay on some topic and take that essay and put it in a self-plagiarism system, this essay will not be accused of plagiarism, because it is as if it were new content that is made by a machine that extrapolated the knowledge she acquired in this training”, explains Guy Perelmuter.

But if artificial intelligence even does school work, what about education? “I think it will be for the best. It will allow us to go beyond what the algorithm already does. It would be like a calculator, for example. When the calculator came, it changed education. So, children will have to, at first, not use ChatGPT or any tool like chat and to learn how to write. And from a certain age to be released. This will enhance what these children, these young people can write and can develop using these tools. The same way you use a calculator”, opines USP Artificial Intelligence professor Alexandre Chiavegatto Filho.

For six years now, professor Dora Kaufman has been directing her research towards the subject of artificial intelligence. “There are questions. So what is intellectual property? The authenticity? What is creativity? All this is messing with us. So, that’s why the scaring side comes. Where are we going to stay?”, she questions her.
