Charlotte teenager shooting murder classified as “justified” | What’s Up News

Charlotte.- Detectives who investigated the murder of a 16-year-old in the summer in Charlotte classified the incident as a “justified homicide” and the county prosecutor’s office backed the determination.

Vontarius Doster, 16, died in the hospital in the early morning of July 13, shortly after being shot at the Southside Homes complex on Griffith Street, very close to the Tryon Street corridor, southwest of the city.

Five months after the murder, Officer Katherine Acosta, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police spokeswoman, announced in a statement the decision that was made by homicide investigators regarding case 20200713-0152-01.

However, at the time of the announcement the authorities did not give more details about the events that led to Doster’s death.

In the aftermath of the shooting, police reported that they were investigating the case of a shooting reported at 1:52 am on Monday, July 13, at the aforementioned apartment complex. When the officers arrived at the scene, the young man who was shot, later identified as Doster, had already been transported to the hospital by private car, where he died that same morning.

According to Charlotte jail records, three months before the murder the same young man had had a brush with the law.

On April 9, Doster was arrested after allegedly trying to escape from police in a car, while the 16-year-old was speeding, recklessly and without a driver’s license.
