Charles Leclerc flies for the second win in a row

Console monster Leclerc not stopping

Second start, second win – Charles Leclerc doesn’t seem to stop in the virtual premier class. At the Virtual GP of China, the third race of the virtual Formula 1 season, Monegasse once again celebrated a safe start-finish victory – as it did 14 days ago with its console debut in Melbourne’s Albert Park. You can watch the whole race again in full length above!

Two Formula 1 drivers in front

With a lead of around 2.5 seconds, Leclerc’s Red Bull driver Alex Albon finished second in the Red Bull. Chinese Formula 2 driver Guanyu Zhou completed the podium ‘in front of his home’ in the Renault. Mercedes man Stoffel Vandoorne missed the virtual champagne ceremony due to a time penalty and had to make do with fourth place just ahead of his team-mate Esteban Gutierez.

After his second win in the third race, Leclerc is now even on the Virtual World Championship course.

Norris and Giovinazzi stopped by the technology

For another Formula 1 driver, the appearance in China ended with another complete failure: Lando Norris apparently did not find his WLAN cable again and looked again at the console battle. Antonio Giovinazzi also had technical problems and did not finish.

The Italian soccer player Ciro Immobile did not cut a particularly good figure in his guest appearance in virtual Formula 1 – as he once did in the Borussia Dortmund shirt. Immobile narrowly avoided being lapped and was waved down as the penultimate. The second kicker in the field did a little better: Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois was 15th, golf star Ian Poulter last.

Real Formula 1 starts in July at the earliest

Actually, Formula 1 should have had its fourth real season race in China this weekend. But the first eight Grands Prix have been postponed or canceled due to the corona pandemic, and the Austrian GP in Spielberg is now being targeted for the start of the season on July 5. Until then, virtual Formula 1 will fight for the World Cup crown.
