The American lawyer Michael Sussmann is said to have said he did not work for a client, when he spoke to the FBI in 2016. Now specialist letter researcher John Durham claims that he worked for Hillary Clinton.

Durham is leading an investigation into what led to the so-called Mueller investigation, which investigated possible links between Russia and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016.
The investigation of the investigation is nearing the end – and has accused a computer security lawyer of having lied to an FBI investigator.
– The accused said he did not go on another errand when he made the allegations about a presidential candidate, when he actually, and as he himself knew, represented specific clients, it is stated in the indictment.
Led to investigation
According to the indictment, the clients he represented must have been a leader in the technology industry – and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
The lawyer, Michael Sussmann, is said to have said he did not represent a client when he shared information with the FBI about alleged links between data servers in Trump Tower and the Russian bank Alfa Bank.
US media reported just before the 2016 election that the FBI was investigating allegations of a secret channel between the Trump camp and the Russian bank.
According to the indictment, this investigation was started as a result of Sussmann’s meeting with the FBI. It was later closed because there was insufficient evidence for the allegations.
– Groundless accusations
– Any prosecution will be unfounded, without precedent and an unjustified deviation from the apolitical and principled way the Ministry of Justice should work, say the lawyer’s lawyers, Sean Berkowitz and Michael Bosworth in a statement ifølge Washington Post.
– If he is charged, we are sure that he will win the trial and get redress for his name, they continue.
For the record: The Mueller investigation led to the indictment of more than 40 people, and seven people were convicted. So far, two people, including Sussmann, have been charged in Durham’s investigation.
The law firm represented Clinton
Sussmann’s law firm was engaged by Clinton’s election campaign in April 2015, according to the indictment.
Although there was a colleague in the firm who acted as the Clinton camp’s adviser, Sussmann also invoiced for the presidential candidate’s election campaign for many working hours over several months.
He also allegedly invoiced the Clinton camp for the meeting with the FBI, where he claimed that he did not act on behalf of anyone but himself.
The indictment also points out that Sussmann in 2017 said that he passed on the allegations of a link between the Trump camp and a Russian bank “on behalf of his client” when he testified under oath in Congress.
According to the indictment, the chief technology officer with whom Sussmann collaborated claimed in an email immediately after the election in November 2016 that he would have been offered a position in Clinton’s administration if she had won.
