Piotr Jedliński is no longer the president of Radio Nowy Świat. The team distanced themselves from his statements

In some of the weekend news services broadcast on Radio Nowy Świat, Margot, a non-binary LGBT + activist, spoke with the use of masculine pronouns, although she herself calls herself non-masculine pronouns. A lot of Internet users expressed their opposition to such treatment of the matter, to which Piotr Jedliński replied.

In his posts you could read: “If Margot and acolytes call so much for respect for freedom, why do they not respect the freedom of the media and mine as a person? Why do they want to force me to perceive the world by forcing me to define someone Who do I perceive as male, with female pronouns? (…) I invite those who spit on freedom tutoring. Because what you do has nothing to do with freedom. “

A little later, in another entry, he added: “Responding to the accusations caused by the grammatical form in which the RNŚ websites referred to Margot, I aimed to defend the independence of our radio also against public pressure. However, further actions of the authorities against Margot, especially placing her in detention for men, (…) significantly changed the context of the whole case in my eyes. (…) Without withdrawing from the belief in the value of being independent, in today’s conflict between persecutors and persecuted I am on the side of the persecuted. “

On Sunday, the team of Radio Nowy Świat presented the official position on male terms used for the activist Margot on the air on the news service.

The male-personal form (“activist”) we used in relation to Margot was an unintentional error, which in no way defines the position of Radio Nowy Świat in relation to the aforementioned people and events. Our team consists of people of various age, beliefs, skin color and sexual orientation, and we are aware that diversity is the strength of Radio Nowy Świat. In this context, we would like to emphasize that Piotr Jedliński’s entry is his private opinion

– incl. such words fell on Sunday evening. The declaration was signed by: Magda Jethon, Anna Krakowska, Patrycja Macjon, Jan Chojnacki, Krzysztof Łuszczewski, Wojciech Mann and Jerzy Sosnowski.

At the moment, there is no information who will replace Jedliński as the president of the company managing the radio.
