The chancellor Marcelo Ebrard received the “Joe Kiani Humanitarian Award” in Newport, California, for his efforts to purchase vaccines during the covid-19 pandemic.

He noted that it was not part of his responsibilities at the Foreign Ministry, but he still made sure that the vaccines were available in the midst of the covid pandemic. “We are very grateful to him for his humanitarian effort,” he added.

In his speech, the foreign minister explained that after the pandemic they learned the importance of countries taking their patient safety movement as a public policy, as well as the idea of ​​improving the quality of the entire Mexican health system. to be prepared for the next pandemic.

“From the bottom of my life and my heart, I want to say that this is a commitment not to forget the lessons of the covid-19 experience, because it is easy to forget and return to normality. Covid-19 was a tragedy for Mexico and for many countries”, he stated.

“What this award means for Mexico is something important. The commitment to improve patient safety in our health system every day. We already have 60 hospitals in our country working with this movement,” Ebrard pointed out.
