Chamber asks Van Lienden to repay mouth cap profit

The House of Representatives wants Sywert van Lienden and his business partners Bernd Damme and Camille van Gestel to return the money they earned from the mouth mask deal. The House adopted a motion by Denk foreman Farid Azarkan, stating that the three have enriched themselves on improper grounds. They are asked to “give back 28 million euros to the taxpayer”.

There is a lot of criticism of the deal, about which Van Lienden made agreements with the Ministry of Health last year. The CDA prominent had initially given the impression that the deal was not for profit, but had to come back to that later. MPs have also questioned all kinds of other facets of the deal. Minister Van Ark announced in a parliamentary debate a external research to the state of affairs.

Van Lienden mentioned the deal himself last week unexplained. He wants to use his returns for charity.

With the exception of VVD, CDA and SGP, the House supported the request to repay the money. The cabinet said last week that it did not want to interfere with the appeal from the House. A motion by Denk to cancel the agreement with Van Lienden and his partners did not make it.
