Chainsaw Man Author’s Early Works to Receive Anime Anthology, Limited Theatrical Run
An anthology of animated shorts based on early works by Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto will premiere globally on november 8, 2025.The project, titled Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26, showcases pieces Fujimoto created during his student years and will receive a limited theatrical release, offering fans a rare glimpse into the formative stages of a rising manga star’s career.
The anthology’s meaning lies in its unique production approach and Fujimoto’s personal connection to the material. Unlike typical adaptations, Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 will feature episodes animated by six different studios: ZEXCS, Lapin Track, GRAPH77, 100 Studio, Studio Kafka, and P. A. WORKS. This collaborative effort aims to bring a diverse range of styles to Fujimoto’s early creations, which initially caused the author some anxiety.
Fujimoto expressed initial reservations about adapting his student work, questioning its originality and quality. However, he now believes the talented directors involved have transformed the pieces into “proper, well-crafted” anime episodes. The project is a collaboration between shueisha, the Tatsuki Fujimoto, and the 17-26 Committee.
