Milan / Berlin (MH) – Riccardo Chailly (68) will remain music director of La Scala in Milan for three more years. His current contract was extended to 2025, the opera house announced on Monday on its Facebook and Twitter pages. The board of directors has accepted a corresponding proposal from director Dominique Meyer.

Born in Milan in 1953, Chailly has been Music Director of the Teatro alla Scala since January 2015. A few months later he was also appointed chief conductor of the Filarmonica della Scala. He made his debut at Scala in 1978.
