Roman Šmucler, its managing director, confirmed on the social networks that it is Na Pleši Hospital. “I have invested a lot of money and time over the years to make the hospital a modern and popular place to close. I don’t know much about the details, I don’t have the documents, but we operated it non-profitably and the people there didn’t have any rewards, only salaries lower than in the state. All the money went to treatment, no one took anything, no profit was paid, nothing. Insurance companies had no objections, although the matter has been resolved for years. Now it is the largest criminal association, according to the accused, in the history of the Czech Republic. According to him, all he knows is that the police have blocked the hospital’s bills and should probably stop treating patients. “I do not know who is to blame. According to the police, the total damage caused to health insurance companies exceeds 19 million crowns. “Among the accused are also some patients who should have consciously agreed to the use of their personal data to report fictitious hospitalizations, although in reality they should not have been hospitalized during the reporting period,” headquarters spokesman Jaroslav Ibehej continued.

The description of the crime, committed at least from February 2011 to the end of 2015, is so extensive that only the resolution on the initiation of criminal proceedings contains 1132 pages. Distributing such a large document would be technically very complicated, which is why the NCOZ criminal investigators decided to deliver the resolution to the accused in person.

The accused, whose share in the crime was supposed to be the most fundamental, face the penalty of imprisonment from 5 to 10 years for the crime of fraud. The accused legal entity in the case is the hospital itself. The whole case is supervised by the Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office in Prague. According to police, all individuals are being prosecuted at large.
