Cencosud ends Johnson stores: it will merge them with Paris in Chile and close operations in Peru | Economy

Through a statement released this Tuesday, from Cencosud announced that their 11 stores Paris located in Peru will stop working. Meanwhile in Chile, the chain Johnson, also belonging to the holding company, will be converted into stores Paris Express, all in the context of the health crisis due to Covid-19.

In Peru, according to what was declared, from “July 1, 2020, the closure of the Paris Peru operation which comprises 11 stores in the country ”.

In addition, they noted that the closure is generated because “the results and expected participation have not been achieved to guarantee the sustainability of the operation.”

The collaborators will be relocated to the Wong and Metro Supermarkets operation offering them the salary and working conditions of these flags ”, they added.

Along these lines, they added that “those collaborators who decide not to accept these conditions may avail themselves of a retirement plan.”

In the meantime, for Chile, “Paris will absorb Johnson stores creating the new ‘Paris Express’ format, whose main focus will be the commercialization of the clothing, footwear and sports categories ”.

“The premises that are not absorbed will be closed in the months of July and August 2020”, they indicated.

They also mentioned that the collaborators “Will be relocated by Paris in the different Cencosud flags offering them the salary and working conditions of these flags ”, clarifying that those collaborators who decide not to accept said conditions, will be able to take advantage of a retirement plan.

The meaning of this unification, as indicated, is to promote the Paris brand in Chile, “Generating new commercial, operational and logistical synergies, strengthening its omnichannel strategy, and seeking greater competitiveness and sustainability, offering better service, assortment and quality to its clients”.
