The election commission of Belarus announced a press conference on the results of the presidential elections in the country, which will be held at 9.00 Moscow time, the TV channel reports Belarus 24.
According to exit polls, the current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, has secured the support of over 70% of voters. His main rival Svetlana Tikhanovskaya received from 6.8% to 10.1% of the vote. The turnout as of 20:00 Moscow time on August 9 is estimated at 84.05%.
