Midterm elections of People’s Deputies to be held in Kherson and Cherkasy regions

Each of the candidates will be marked with a serial number. They will not change, including after the decision to cancel the registration of a candidate, or his retirement from the ballot.

The Central Election Commission approved ballots for single-member constituencies. Now each candidate will have their own sequential number, it is reported on the site election commission on Wednesday, 6 October.

To facilitate campaigning and making a conscious choice, the CEC decided to mark each of the candidates with a serial number. Thus, they plan to prevent the disorientation of the voter during the formation of his will.

These serial numbers will not change, including after the decision to cancel the registration of a candidate for deputy, or his retirement from the ballot.

“Despite the norms of the current law on the elections of people’s deputies, this position should be attributed to the form of the ballot. Judicial practice allows the commission to perform such actions. This will only contribute to the free expression of the will of voters,” said Olga Aivazovskaya, head of the Opora Civic Network.

As a reminder, as of October 31, 2021 in Cherkasy and Kherson regions midterm elections scheduled MPs in 197 and 184 constituencies, since the majority members from these constituencies terminated early.

It was also reported that on October 2 CEC Completed Candidate Registration Process in the people’s deputies. There are 45 of them in total.
