All citizens could get money from the state for their new heating system – as a loan. So subsidies would be dispensable, believes Götz Wiese. The lawyer is the economic policy spokesman for the CDU in the Hamburg Parliament.
Do you already have a heat pump in your house, Mr. Wiese?
No, I installed a new gas boiler five years ago, which will certainly last for many years to come. And then the district heating network could be an alternative, which is already well developed in Hamburg. We will also have to insulate our house better.
So you are familiar with the necessary investment volume. Then you can understand that the current debate about the heating law is giving many people sleepless nights?
Yes. It is the half-baked draft law that has led to the uncertainty. This is extremely damaging to the acceptance of the measures. I’m sure the owners are aware of their great responsibility, but there are also high costs involved. To operate with coercive state measures or even to give the impression that an avalanche of costs is rolling towards people is of course devastating.
