CD Projekt RED’s upcoming blockbuster “Cyberpunk 2077” was presented a few days ago as part of the Night City Wire livestream. The preview embargo also fell, which gives us some more details about the beginning of the adventure. Among other things, the character creation has been changed compared to previous reports.
Three stories instead of multiple choice questions
The selection of the background story of the main character V has been simplified. Previously, a multiple choice survey would have had to be answered to create this backstory. Now you only choose from three different stories: Street Kid, Nomad and Corpo. These determine which intro missions you receive and what is said about V’s past as the story unfolds.
In an interview with VG247 Quest designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz revealed why the selection of the background story has been simplified.
“Having the players shape V’s backstory by making a series of choices like choosing their childhood hero, a key event in their lives, and why going to Night City was one of the ideas we looked at earlier in the game Development for character creation. However, we felt more that we had to make these decisions more meaningful and influential after talking about it for a long time. This gave us the idea of life paths, ”said Tomaszkiewicz.

Now you will no longer just choose the origin of the main character, but experience its happenings firsthand. Each background story starts at a completely different location and offers an alternative selection of prologue quests. “Our goal was to provide players with so many customization and role-playing options, while also expanding these totally different perspectives on the world of Cyberpunk 2077 for V as a character. I think the life path system is something that has helped us with that, ”concludes.
After a postponement, “Cyberpunk 2077” will be released on November 19, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X players are provided free of charge if they have bought the game for the current generation.
