The interest in the interview of talk show host Oprah Winfrey – who was also a guest at the wedding of Harry and Meghan in 2018 – was very strong. Ultimately, CBS started running with the broadcasting rights. According to The Wall Street Journal the American television channel paid between 5.8 million and 7.5 million euros for it. A commercial on CBS around the interview on Sunday would now cost more than 270,000 euros per 30 seconds.

Princess Diana

The interview had caused quite a stir for weeks in advance, so the royal family was there anything but set up that Harry and Meghan talked to Oprah Winfrey. Her entry into the royal family, her orchestrated life in the British royal family, motherhood and her marriage to Prince Harry: these will all pass in the conversation between Meghan and Oprah. The well-known presenter will also talk to Harry herself. In one of the trailers of the documentary you can hear, among other things, how he talks about his fear that “history would repeat itself”. The prince seems to be referring to the death of his mother, Princess Diana, who was killed in a car accident in Paris in 1997 while trying to escape from paparazzi.
